Test results can sometimes take a while to become available. Generally urine test results are available to the practice within 48 working hours, blood tests within 4 to 5 working days and x-rays within 2 weeks.
We will contact you by letter or telephone, once a clinician has seen your result, if there is any action or treatment required, but please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns. Due to the high volume of results we process each day, if the result is normal or the clinician has indicated no action is required, we will not contact you.
If you want to ask about a result it would be appreciated if you could telephone the surgery on the General Enquiries number after 2.00pm. The phones are less busy at this time and a receptionist should be able to help you with your enquiry. When you call, please bear in mind that our receptionists are not medically qualified and can only pass on whether the clinician has said the result is normal.
We will often ask patients to arrange a routine or urgent telephone consultation or appointment at the surgery, if the clinician feels the result needs explanation or wishes to discuss the next steps with you. This does not necessarily mean there is anything seriously wrong.
