These clinics are run by community midwives. If you become pregnant, you will need to make a ‘booking appointment’. At this appointment the midwife will ask you a few questions and carry out some general health checks. For our Downend patients the booking appointment takes place at Downend Clinic and for our Yate patients the booking appointment takes place at Yate West Gate Centre. From then on you will be seen regularly throughout your pregnancy at the local clinic or hospital.
From 27 June 2016, North Bristol NHS Trust Maternity Services, introduced a new centralised booking process, for newly pregnant women to access maternity services, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 0117 4146743. One of our practice nurses provides advice and support to patients diagnosed with asthma. Please make an appointment.
Downend patients Thursday afternoon, Yate patients Wednesday afternoon. Immunisations given in surgery appointments. All babies are invited for a check-up at eight weeks old. We recommend a full immunisation schedule for pre-school children.
Coronary Heart Disease
One of our practice nurses provides advice and health check-ups to patients diagnosed with coronary heart disease. Please make an appointment.
Downend patients Wednesday morning, Yate patients Wednesday morning. Led by our practice nurses, this clinic offers advice and general health check-ups to patients diagnosed with diabetes.
Minor operations can be done in our treatment room. Please discuss this with your doctor who will then arrange for you to be given an appointment.
We run specialist clinics for children registered in the NHS South Gloucestershire & Bristol area. Children seen in these clinics have been referred by their doctor. It is an appointment only service.
Specially trained members of our nursing team provide advice and support to patients keen to give up smoking. Please make an appointment to see a stop smoking advisor.
The surgery can offer vaccinations and advice for foreign travel. Some vaccinations are not available under the NHS. Our practice nurses will be able to advise you accordingly. Please read our Foreign Travel Information Sheet and complete and return our Travel Risk Assessment form to reception when making your travel appointment. You should make your appointment for six to eight weeks before you are due to travel to allow sufficient time for the vaccinations to provide protection.
Patients who intend backpacking or have extensive travel plans are advised to contact a Nomad Travel Health Clinic due to the complexity of the immunisations they may require.

We also offer over 75 checks, influenza and pneumococcal immunisation, cervical smears, sexual health and family planning, and well person checks regarding disease prevention.
